Quickly switch your Mac between standard F1–F12 and hardware keys (brightness and volume).

This is especially handy when writing notes in Epic on a Mac. You can send F2 to the app without holding fn, which can make wildcard and SmartList selection faster and easier.

What it does

Toggles how macOS function keys behave:

  • Click the menu bar icon, or
  • Use the keyboard shortcut ⌘⌥F (Command, Option, F)

How to install and use

  1. Download the .pkg above and open it.
  2. Follow the installer prompts. After installation, fnFlip will launch and add an icon to your menu bar.
  3. Click the icon to switch modes, or press ⌘⌥F.
  4. Right-click the icon for the menu, settings, and the About panel.

Launch at login

The application is configured to relaunch when you log in to your Mac. You may see a notification about this setting. If you want to change it, right-click the icon and deselect Launch at Login. In System Settings > General > Login Items, you will see an item associated with Erkin Otles. This is expected.

Requirements

  • macOS 12 Monterey or later (Apple silicon or Intel)

Privacy

fnFlip does not collect data. It only toggles the system preference for function keys locally.
